Exempt from PAN-Aadhaar Linking Are You on the List

From the Business Desk, New Delhi: Now, it’s a must to connect your PAN Card with Aadhaar Card. The PAN card is for financial stuff and taxes, while Aadhar is a key ID proof for various uses.

So, the government says it’s essential to link them up. They’ve given lots of deadlines for this. But who doesn’t need to do it?

Well, if you’re over 80 years old, or you’re not a resident of India, or you’re not an Indian citizen, then you’re off the hook.

But what if you don’t link them?

If you have a PAN card and you haven’t linked it yet, you better do it soon. If your Aadhaar isn’t linked, your PAN card could get turned off.

That means you can’t use it anymore. Plus, you might face issues with financial transactions.

You won’t be able to file your taxes without the link. Your bank transactions could also get stopped. And you might miss out on some government benefits too.

To get your PAN card back on track, you’ll need to visit the Income Tax Department website. You’ll have to pay a late fee of Rs 1,000 to link your PAN with Aadhaar.
