Most people in the country have Aadhaar cards now. This card is really important for everyone.

But sometimes, bad people might try to misuse it, which causes big problems. To stop this, UIDAI lets you lock your Aadhaar card, but not many people know about it.

How to lock your Aadhaar card online using your phone?

1. First, go to the UIDAI website: https://uidai.gov.in.
2. Then, click on ‘My Aadhaar’.
3. Next, find ‘Aadhaar Lock/Unlock’ in the Aadhaar Services section and click on it.
4. Now, choose ‘Lock UID’.
5. Enter your Aadhaar number, name, and pin code.
6. Click on ‘Send OTP’.
7. Enter the OTP you receive. After this, your Aadhaar card will be locked.

How to lock Aadhaar through SMS?

1. Send a message to 1947 from your mobile number linked to your Aadhaar card.
2. From your registered mobile number, write GETOTP followed by the last 4 digits of your Aadhaar number and send it to 1947. For example, if your Aadhaar number is 123456789012, send GETOTP 9012.
3. Once you get the OTP, send another message with LOCKUID followed by the last 4 digits of your Aadhaar and the OTP. For example, if your Aadhaar number is 123456789012 and OTP is 123456, send LOCKUID 9012 123456.
4. After this, your Aadhaar card will be locked.
