New Delhi: On Tuesday, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) introduced a new feature on its website and mobile app.
This feature allows residents to verify their mobile numbers and email IDs linked to their Aadhaar.
The decision was made after UIDAI noticed that some residents were unsure about which mobile number was linked to their Aadhaar.
According to UIDAI’s statement, residents expressed concern that the OTP for Aadhaar verification might be sent to a mobile number other than the one linked to their Aadhaar.
With the new verification feature, residents can easily check the mobile number and email linked to their Aadhaar.
This feature is accessible through the official website or mAadhaar App under the “Verify email/mobile Number” feature.
The statement added that this new feature provides confirmation to residents that only the email/mobile number they are aware of is linked to their Aadhaar.
Additionally, the new feature notifies residents if a specific mobile number is not linked to their Aadhaar.
If this is the case, the residents are advised to update the mobile number if they choose to do so.
UIDAI’s statement explained that when a resident enters a mobile number, a message will appear on the screen confirming that the mobile number is already verified if that is the case.
If a resident does not recall the mobile number linked to their Aadhaar, they can check the last three digits of the mobile number using the Verify Aadhaar feature on the Myaadhaar portal or mAadhaar app.
However, to link their email and mobile number with Aadhaar, residents must visit the nearest Aadhaar center.
