Reliance Industries Emerges as India’s Top Valued Company:Hurun India’s List

According to the recent Burgundy Private-Hurun India-500 list released on June 20, Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), led by billionaire industrialist Mukesh Ambani, has secured its position as the most valuable company in India.

The list highlights Reliance Industries’ impressive valuation of Rs 16.4 lakh crore. Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) claims the second spot with a valuation of Rs 11.8 lakh crore, while HDFC Bank stands third with Rs 9.4 lakh crore.

The Burgundy Private-Hurun India’s list provides insights into the valuation changes among the 500 largest private companies in the country. The report covers the period from October 30, 2022, to April 30, 2023.

The report reveals a decline of approximately six percent in the valuation of India’s 500 largest private companies over the past six months.

Notably, the market valuation of Adani Group’s companies has experienced a significant drop, remaining less than half of their previous value.

During this period, Adani Total Gas witnessed a staggering 73.8 percent decrease in its valuation, followed by a 69.2 percent decline for Adani Transmission and a 54.7 percent decline for Adani Green Energy.

The Adani Group as a whole registered a notable decrease of 52 percent in the market capitalization of its eight companies.

On a positive note, the report highlights Serum Institute of India (SII) as the country’s most valuable unlisted company, with a valuation of Rs 1.92 lakh crore.

SII has even surpassed the National Stock Exchange (NSE), becoming the second most valuable unlisted company, now valued at Rs 1.65 lakh crore.

Byju’s secures the third position among unlisted companies, with a valuation of Rs 69,100 crore.

The valuation dynamics revealed in the Hurun India’s list depict the shifting landscape of India’s corporate sector, with Reliance Industries emerging as a dominant force while the Adani Group faces a significant setback in terms of market value.
