ICC announces $10 Million Prize for ODI World Cup Winners

The International Cricket Council (ICC) is set to award a grand total of $10 million USD (approximately Rs 33,18,30,000) to the champions of the upcoming ODI World Cup.

This substantial prize money, along with the coveted trophy, will be presented to the victorious team following the final match on November 19 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Runner-Up Team to Receive $2 Million

Out of the $10 million prize pool, the runner-up team in the ODI World Cup will also receive a generous sum of $2 million USD.

Additionally, the teams that reach the semi-finals but do not clinch the championship will be granted $800,000 USD (approximately Rs 6,64,84,000) each.

All Teams Guaranteed Prize Money

In a new development, the ICC has introduced a provision to reward all participating teams in the group stage.

Each team competing in the group matches will receive $40,000 USD (approximately Rs 33,24,200).

Even the six teams that do not advance to the semi-finals will be compensated with $100,000 USD (approximately Rs 83,10,500) per team.

Tournament Format and Schedule

The ODI World Cup will feature a round-robin format, with teams competing against each other. Only the top four teams will progress to the semi-finals.

The tournament will consist of a total of 48 matches taking place across 10 venues in India from October 5 to November 19.

India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka Set to Compete

India, a two-time ODI World Cup champion in 1983 and 2011, will host the tournament this time.

The event will kick off with India facing five-time champions Australia on October 8 at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.

Sri Lanka, the 1996 champions, will commence their campaign against South Africa at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on October 7.

Meanwhile, Pakistan, the 1992 winners, will play their first match against the Netherlands on October 6 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
