Expo 2023: Maruti Suzuki all set to show it’s First Electric SUV

Maruti’s first Electric SUV concept: The market of electric cars in the country is increasing. Tata Motors has achieved an 84 percent share in this segment in less than four years.

At the same time, the country’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki has yet to make its debut. But in Auto Expo 2023, the company is going to explode.

According to Autocar’s report, Maruti Suzuki will show the concept version of its first electric SUV. It is currently given the Maruti YY8 SUV model number.

It will be a mid-sized electric SUV, and the company will produce it in collaboration with Toyota.

It will be manufactured at Suzuki’s Gujarat plant, and apart from selling in the Indian market, it will also be exported.

It will be given a longer wheelbase, so it will be easier to keep a bigger battery pack, and more space will be available in the cabin.

The futuristic design will be seen in this SUV, which will be completely different from the petrol cars of the company.

In terms of size, it will be almost similar to the Hyundai Creta. Its length can be 4.2 meters.

At the same time, its wheelbase will be 2.7 meters, which is more than MG ZS EV.

500KM in full charge

According to the report, the Maruti YY8 SUV can get two battery pack options – 48kWh and 59kWh.

The first battery pack will offer 400 km, and the second will offer a full charge range of up to 500 km.

Its batteries will be taken from China’s electric car manufacturer BYD. It will feature both two-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. Its power figure can be between 138hp to 170hp.

What will be the price?

Maruti Suzuki YY8 electric SUV can be brought to the Indian market in early 2025. According to the report, the company can launch it for Rs 13 lakh to 15 lakh.

This means it will be similar in size to the MG ZS EV and priced like the Tata Nexon EV.

Apart from this electric concept, the company may introduce flex-fuel versions of the 5-door Jimny and Wagon R at the Auto Expo 2023.
