Ampere launches New Electric Scooter ‘Nexus’ in India

Ampere Electric makes its mark in India’s electric scooter market with the launch of Nexus, their latest offering, starting at just Rs 1.10 lakh. Let’s delve into its features and specifications.

The Next Level in Electric Mobility

Ampere’s Nexus stands out as their first premium electric scooter, boasting a brand-new platform that promises enhanced performance and convenience.

Design and Color Options

The Nexus sports a sleek design with flat body panels and distinctive creases, giving it a modern and robust appearance.

To ensure optimal performance, front and rear vents aid in efficient cooling. Available in four vibrant color options: Zanskar Aqua, Steel Grey, Indian Red, and Lunar White.

Performance and Battery

Powering the Nexus is a formidable 4kW electric motor, offering a commendable range of 136 km.

Its innovative power modes – ‘Power,’ ‘City,’ and ‘Eco’ – provide versatility in performance, catering to different riding needs.

Notably, a ‘Limp Home’ mode kicks in when the battery level drops below 20 percent, ensuring you can reach your destination safely.

The scooter is equipped with a 3kWh IP67 rated LFP battery, chosen for its superior thermal stability, ideal for India’s warm climate.

With a 15A charger included, it takes a little over three hours to recharge, with an option for a faster 25A charger.

Chassis, Suspension, and Wheels

Built on a new underbone chassis, the Nexus features a reliable telescopic fork and twin shock absorber suspension system, ensuring a smooth ride even on rough roads.

Its 12-inch alloy wheels provide stability, complemented by disc brakes at the front and drum brakes at the rear, ensuring reliable stopping power.

With a generous 170 mm ground clearance, the Nexus handles varied terrain with ease.

Innovative Features and Connectivity

The Nexus boasts an all-LED setup, including headlights renowned for their brightness.

The Nexus ST variant further elevates the experience with a 7-inch touchscreen TFT display, complete with Bluetooth connectivity.

Pairing your phone allows access to incoming calls, messages, and turn-by-turn navigation, making every ride convenient and connected.

The Nexus EX variant, while offering a similar experience, features a slightly smaller 6.2-inch LCD display with limited connectivity features.

Pricing and Competition

With a starting price of Rs 1.10 lakh for the Nexus EX and Rs 1.20 lakh for the Nexus ST, Ampere aims to deliver premium electric mobility at competitive prices.

Bookings have already commenced, with a booking amount of Rs 10,000. Positioned to rival the likes of TVS iQube, Ola S1, and Ather Rizta, the Nexus promises an exciting addition to India’s electric scooter market.
