Ujjwala Yojana: Application Process, Eligibility, Required Documents, and Benefits (Full Details)

The Union Cabinet recently took a decision to lower the cost of Domestic Gas by Rs 200.

This update came after a cabinet meeting where Union Minister Anurag Thakur shared this news.

He explained that people benefiting from the Ujjwala Yojana will now receive a subsidy of Rs. 400, which is an increase from the previous subsidy of Rs. 200.

Additionally, the government also announced that they will provide 75 lakh new free LPG connections under the Ujjwala scheme.

Anurag Thakur emphasized that this move will extend the coverage of the Prime Minister Ujjwala Yojana to reach 10.35 crore beneficiaries.

The Ujjwala Yojana Explained:

The Ujjwala scheme is designed to provide free LPG connections to economically disadvantaged families.

It was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 1, 2016. According to official data, more than 9.6 crore LPG connections have been given out across the country under this initiative.

There are certain conditions to meet in order to avail of this scheme, such as the age requirement (minimum 18 years for women only) and no existing LPG connection within the same household.

Applying for PM Ujjwala Yojana:

To enroll in the Ujjwala Yojana, you need to register for a Ujjwala gas connection.

Any woman from a Below Poverty Line (BPL) family can apply.

Application Process:

1. Visit the official website pmujjwalayojana.com.

2. On the website’s homepage, locate and click the download form option.

3. Fill in the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana form after downloading it.

4. Submit the form and the necessary documents to the nearby LPG center for verification.

5. Once your documents are verified, the government will provide you with the LPG gas connection.

1. Mobile number
2. Age certificate
3. Aadhar card
4. Photocopy of ration card
5. BPL card
6. Print of name in BPL list
7. Passport size photo
8. Photocopy of bank details

Eligibility Criteria for PM Ujjwala Yojana:

1. The applicant must be a woman aged over 18.

2. She should belong to a Below Poverty Line (BPL) family.

3. Possession of a BPL card and ration card is necessary.

4. No other family member should have an existing LPG connection.

5. The applicant’s or family member’s name should not already be linked to an LPG connection.
