When it comes to short-term holidays abroad, Southeast Asian countries have become the go-to destinations for Indian travelers.
According to the ‘Oyo Global Summer Vacation Travelopedia’ 2024 report, Southeast Asia is now the favored spot for Indian tourists planning holidays lasting 5 to 7 days.
With visa exemptions in play, more people are opting for quick getaways during long weekends and holidays.
Bali Tops the Charts
The survey, which gathered responses from around 4,000 individuals, revealed that Bali has clinched the top spot, with 38 percent of respondents selecting it as their preferred destination.
Following closely behind are Pattaya, Bangkok, and Dubai. Countries like Indonesia and Malaysia have gained popularity due to relaxed visa regulations, making them attractive choices for Indian travelers.
Long-Haul Dreams: Europe and America
For longer vacations spanning 10 to 15 days or more, Europe and America remain the top picks.
Despite the distance, Indian tourists are drawn to the diverse experiences these regions offer, from cultural landmarks to natural wonders.
Expanding Horizons
Ritesh Agarwal, CEO of Oyo, noted that improved flight connectivity, streamlined visa services, and a wide array of travel options have made Southeast Asia more accessible than ever for Indian travelers.
Oyo’s initiative to expand premium accommodations in the region aims to provide tourists with a range of stay options at popular destinations.
Visa Relaxation Opens Doors
Recent visa relaxations in Southeast Asian countries like Malaysia and Indonesia have further fueled the travel trend.
Additionally, Dubai’s introduction of a five-year multiple visa has simplified travel between India and the Gulf region.
The ability to work remotely has also contributed to the surge in travel, with many Indians opting to combine work with leisure in destinations like Indonesia and Malaysia, attracted by their affordability, reliable internet, and scenic beauty.
