THIS State Govt to Provide Financial Assistance for Marriage of Daughters

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, has recently announced an increase in the financial

aid provided to impoverished daughters through the ‘Chief Minister Kanya Marriage Scheme’. The assistance amount has been raised from Rs 49,000 to Rs 51,000.

This announcement was made during a ceremony held in Sonkach town of Dewas district.

Enhancing Support for Girls from Low-Income Backgrounds

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan emphasized the government’s commitment to rectify the injustices faced by daughters in society by implementing various welfare initiatives.

As part of the Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Yojana, girls from economically disadvantaged backgrounds are eligible to receive Rs 49,000 for their marriage expenses.

This amount has now been increased to Rs 51,000. Additionally, under the ‘Laadli Bahna Yojana’,

which was launched in March this year, eligible beneficiaries will receive a monthly deposit of Rs 1,000 in their bank accounts starting from June 10.

Ladli Laxmi Yojana – Empowering Girls

CM Chouhan highlighted the success of the government’s flagship program, ‘Ladli Laxmi Yojana’, which has resulted in 44.90 lakh daughters becoming beneficiaries of the scheme.

This initiative involves issuing a certificate assuring a payment of Rs 1.18 lakh in the name of a girl child at the time of her birth.

The funds are then disbursed as she progresses through various levels of education until she turns 21.

The Ladli Laxmi scheme was introduced in 2007 and has since been adopted by six other states in the country, including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, and Goa.

Promoting Women’s Empowerment

In his address, CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan emphasized the government’s efforts to empower women.

The administration has implemented a 50 percent reservation for women in local body elections and has reserved

positions for them in the recruitment of teachers and police constables. To further support women’s empowerment

, the government has also exempted stamp duty on property registrations. CM Chouhan reiterated his commitment to

ensuring that every woman earns a minimum monthly income of Rs 10,000.
