In response to queries regarding the potential reintroduction of ₹1000 notes, Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Shaktikanta Das has clarified that there are no plans to reintroduce these notes.
Governor Das emphasized that the government does not currently have any such plans nor is it considering them.
Following the demonetization move in November 2016, the use of ₹500 and ₹1000 notes was discontinued. Reports suggest that the printing of ₹2000 notes was halted during the 2018-2019 period.
With the recent announcement of the withdrawal of the ₹2000 note from circulation, questions arose about the possibility of the ₹1000 note making a comeback.
However, Governor Das’ statement provides clarity that there are no intentions to reintroduce the ₹1000 note at this time.
