PhonePe launches Income Tax Payment Feature on it’s App (How to use?)

The month of July is the time when all taxpayers are busy filing their Income Tax Returns (ITR) for the financial year 2022-23.

The last date for filing and making payment of ITR is 31st July, and the government has emphasized that the deadline will not be extended beyond this date.

To assist taxpayers during this period, Indian digital payment company PhonePe has introduced a user-friendly feature called ‘Income Tax Payment’ on its app.

The newly launched feature offers individuals and businessmen the convenience of both self-assessment and advance tax payment, eliminating the need to navigate complex processes on the tax portal.

PhonePe has partnered with digital B2B payments and service provider PayMate to offer this seamless experience to users.

Flexible Payment Options and Rewards

The ‘Income Tax Payment’ feature is available on both iOS and Android smartphones, providing users with the option to make payments through credit cards or UPI.

Additionally, users can avail the benefit of interest-free credit for 45 days and earn reward points for their tax payments.

How to Pay Income Tax on PhonePe

If you haven’t paid your taxes yet, you can easily do so through PhonePe using these three simple steps:

Step-by-step Tax Payment Guide

  1. Open the PhonePe app on your iPhone or Android smartphone.
  2. Locate and tap on the ‘Income Tax’ icon placed at the top of the homepage.
  3. Choose the type and year of tax you wish to pay and provide your PAN Card details.
  4. Enter the total tax amount and select your preferred mode of payment.
  5. Once the payment is successful, it will be credited to the tax portal within two days.

After completing the payment through PhonePe, you will receive an acknowledgment in the form of a Unique Transaction Reference (UTR) number.

The tax payment challan will be sent to you within two working days.

Please note that the filing of Income Tax Returns (ITR) is not available through the PhonePe app.
