Noida and Greater Noida in Uttar Pradesh are set to introduce a new mode of transportation, known as pod taxis. This will revolutionize taxi system.
This is expected to lay the foundation for development in the region as infrastructure and transportation are key factors for any city’s growth.
The pod taxi project will connect Jewar Airport to Film City, covering a distance of 14.6 km, making it the longest route in the world.
The Indian Port Rail and Ropeway Corporation Limited (IPRRCL) has prepared the report for the project.
Approval from UP Government
The UP Index and Yamuna Authority have given their approval for the project, which is estimated to cost Rs 810 crore. Once construction begins, it is expected to be completed by 2024.
The unique feature of pod taxis is that 37,000 passengers can travel simultaneously daily, with about 12 stations and 29 sectors. Pod taxis have been introduced in 18 countries, but are currently operational in only 5 countries.
