Nitin Gadkari to Introduce GPS-Based Toll Collection System

Soon, you won’t need FASTags at toll booths in India because there’s a new way to collect tolls coming.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari talked about a plan to use GPS technology for toll collection instead.

Right now, they use something called Fastag, which is like a sticker on cars that gets scanned when you go through a toll booth.

The new GPS system will start in March next year, and it’s meant to make things easier at toll booths and reduce traffic.

Gadkari explained that this GPS system will read the number plates of cars and collect the toll automatically. They already tested it at two places.

The toll money will be taken from the accounts linked to where the journey started, based on how far you traveled.

Currently, most highways use FASTags, but they make cars stop at toll booths, causing long lines.

The GPS system will work differently, scanning plates while the car moves, making it faster and smoother for everyone.
