New Service of ‘Pay by Car’ to soon for Digital Payments to Vehicles

Digital payments are getting even more advanced with the introduction of ‘Pay by Car,’ a cutting-edge feature.

Amazon, in collaboration with MasterCard-backed ToneTag, has launched this innovative service, which seamlessly integrates the Unified Payment Interface (UPI) into your car’s infotainment system.

Say goodbye to smartphone dependence with this convenient payment option, recently showcased on the MG Hector.

How It Works

When you pull into a fuel station, if your car supports the system, your infotainment screen will display the fuel dispenser number.

Simultaneously, a soundbox inside the car will announce your arrival, notifying the station staff.

To fill your tank, simply add the desired amount of fuel, which will also be communicated through the same soundbox.

This process ensures secure and contactless transactions, enhancing both convenience and security.

Additional Services

The ‘Pay by Car’ feature isn’t limited to fuel payments; it can also be used to recharge your car’s FASTag.

The infotainment screen will display your current balance, offering a comprehensive solution for vehicle-related payments.

ToneTag has pioneered an offline voice-based payment system, designed to be inclusive for individuals who may struggle with app-based payments or digital literacy.

This system operates within the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) sandbox, aiming to empower a wider audience.
