Mumbai:
Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MMRCL) flagged off the trial run of its underground metro project called Aqua Line in the city yesterday, i.e., on Sunday.
Videos of the trial runs were shared widely on Twitter, with Mumbaikars wanting to experience the metro.
Many users, including Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis, expressed their gratitude to the Maharashtra government.
Ashwini Bhide, MD, Mumbai Metro, who spearheaded the project, was also thanked on social media.

According to the Mumbai Metro Rail Corp Limited (MMRCL), the underground Mumbai Metro Line-3 will bring several environmental benefits.
According to officials, the intelligent LED lighting system with an automatic light control feature will also reduce power consumption.
Metro Line-3 will reduce vehicular trips by 6.65 lakh per day and fuel consumption by 3.54 lakh liters per day.
The corridor will reduce CO2 emissions by 2.61 lakh tonnes per year. MMRCL officials said that “there will be a 35% reduction in road traffic and also a reduction in noise pollution.”
Cisco signs 500 crore agreement with ICICI
Meanwhile, last month, the process of financial closure for Line No. 1 of the upcoming Navi Mumbai Metro project
was completed with the signing of an agreement between CIDCO and ICICI Bank for a credit line of Rs 500 crore.
The Navi Mumbai Metro Line 1 project is a three-coach metro train.
The 11.1-kilometer Belapur to Pendhar section of the project consists of 11 stations.
CIDCO said in a release that the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) signed an agreement with the Industrial Credit and
Investment Corporation of India (ICICI) for an industrial line of credit of Rs 500 crore. Along with this, metro line no. One project has been completed”.
