Microsoft slashes workforce; lays off 1000 Employees despite earlier Announcements

California :

Microsoft recently made a significant decision to lay off more than 1000 employees, signaling a reduction in its workforce.

This move comes after the company had previously announced its plan to cut 10,000 jobs earlier in the year.

Last week, Microsoft confirmed additional job eliminations, leading to concerns about the impact on the company’s reputation.

Impact on Departments and Roles:

The recent layoffs have notably affected the customer service department, with engineering project managers and marketing departments also feeling the impact.

Microsoft discontinued its Digital Sales and Success Group sales and customer service teams, and the role of customer solution manager was abolished.

Some employees were relocated to other positions, such as Customer Success Account Management.

Focus on Product Consumption:

Experts believe that the company’s current focus is on increasing product consumption rather than prioritizing customer support. The change in strategy has led to challenges in meeting customer demands, causing unexpected job cuts for many managers who were unaware of the decision.

Continuous Organizational Changes:

A company spokesperson emphasized the importance of organizational and workforce management in business growth.

Microsoft has been working continuously on its growth areas. Recent job cuts included 276 positions in the Seattle Area, followed by 158 in Redmond, Washington, and another 210 in Washington, along with 66 remote employees.

Employees are expressing disappointment and concern about the ongoing retrenchment within the company.
