Indians are investing heavily on Mutual Funds (See Top 5)

The assets under management (AUM) of the Mutual Fund industry increased by Rs 2.2 lakh crore in the last year, i.e. 2022.

Due to the increasing attraction of investors towards Fixed Investment Plan SIP, there has been a good increase in the AUM of the mutual fund industry.

The AUM of the mutual fund industry is set to grow by 5.7 per cent or Rs 2.2 lakh crore to reach Rs 39.88 lakh crore in 2022,

according to data released by the Association of Mutual Funds in India (Amfi) on Tuesday.

However, this is much less than the 22 per cent increase in AUM in 2021. In 2021, the AUM of the mutual fund industry had increased by about seven lakh crore rupees to reach 37.72 lakh crore.

Gopal Kavalireddy, Head of Research, FIRES, said, “Industry growth remained relatively slow in 2022 due to uncertainty in the stock market and the outlook for changes in interest rates.

For this reason, the investor reallocated his investment in shares, bonds and hybrid schemes.

Akhil Chaturvedi, a chief business officer of Motilal Oswal AMC, said the growth in the asset base in 2022 was

mainly due to a spurt in SIPs, which touched the Rs 13,000-crore mark in November for the second consecutive month.

Apart from this, AMFI played an essential role in spreading mutual fund awareness among retail investors. SIP inflows averaged Rs 12,500 crore per month in the calendar year.
