Indian Railways Implements New Rule – Ticket Cancellation After 10 Minutes of Train Departure

In response to increasing traffic congestion and transportation delays in cities, Indian Railways has introduced a new rule to address passengers’ delays in boarding trains.

As per recent reports, passengers are now required to board the train from their designated station, and if they fail to do so within 10 minutes of the train’s departure, their ticket will be canceled, and the seat will be allocated to another passenger.

TTE to Wait for 10 Minutes, Ticket Cancellation Follows

As part of this new rule, the Train Ticket Examiner (TTE) will wait for 10 minutes to allow passengers to board from their designated station.

If a passenger is not present in their seat during the TTE’s check, their absence will be recorded, and the vacant seat will be reassigned to another passenger traveling on the train.

Introduction of Hand-Held Terminals for Efficient Ticket Management

To streamline the process, TTEs have been provided with hand-held terminals that enable them to check tickets and record passengers’ arrival details electronically.

This new system ensures accurate record-keeping for Indian Railways.

Cancellation of Tickets for Delayed Boarding

Passengers are now advised to board the train from their boarding station to avoid ticket cancellations and inconvenience.

While slight delays may be considered due to unexpected situations, consistently failing to board the train on time may result in ticket cancellation.

As Indian Railways takes measures to improve passenger experiences and manage train operations efficiently, passengers are encouraged to adhere to the new rule and ensure timely boarding for a smooth and hassle-free journey.
