Indian govt extends Deadline of Fitness Testing for Transport Vehicles (See New Date)

ATS Fitness Testing Update: The Indian Government has moved the last date for necessary fitness checks on transport vehicles at certified Automatic Testing Stations (ATS) to October 1, 2024.

This decision comes from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), as mentioned in notification GSR 663(E) dated September 12, 2023.

This extension follows the regulations outlined in Rule 175 of the CMVR 1989.

Where will they do this testing?

This test also says that the vehicle fitness test will happen using the ATS system (starting from when this notice is shared) at places where the Automatic Testing Station is registered under Rule 175 and is working in the area of the registering authority.

Before, this was the deadline:

Before, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) had told us that they would make sure that big trucks and buses must be checked for safety using the ATS system starting from April 1, 2023.

However, according to MoRTH, they will also make it necessary for smaller trucks, medium-sized buses, and small transport vehicles starting from June 1, 2024.
