To make sure that girls have a good future and can go to school, the government made something called Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana. If you put money in this plan, you will get sure interest on it.
Here, the government gives extra interest that keeps adding up. In this plan, moms, dads, or someone taking care of a girl under 10 years old can start an account in her name.
This special account grows up in 21 years. But in another one, you only need to invest for 15 years.
Right now, the government adds 8 percent more money in this plan. You can start with at least Rs 250, and each year, you can put in up to Rs 1.5 lakh.
How to apply
- Get the application form for Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana from the post office or bank website.
2. Fill out the form and attach a photo, your child’s birth certificate, your ID, and other papers.
3. Take the filled form and documents to the closest bank or post office.
4. The employee will check the form and your original papers. Then, they’ll open an account for the girl.
5. Now, you can put money into the girl’s account.
How to See Your Bank Balance
- Use net banking to check your balance.
2. Log in with your username and password.
3. On the dashboard, you’ll see a list of all your accounts.
4. Choose “Account Statement” on the left side of the screen.
5. Click on your Sukanya account number from the list.
6. Now, your balance will show up on the screen.
These Sukanya accounts will be closed on 31st March
If you don’t put the smallest amount of money into your Sukanya account in a year, it might stop working.
By March 31, if you didn’t add the minimum money every year, the account won’t work anymore. You can make it work again, but you’ll have to pay a fine.
