To uplift women and enhance their opportunities, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has introduced the “Indira Gandhi Free Smartphone Yojana 2023.”
This program aims to provide women with new smartphones equipped with internet services and voice calling features, contributing to their empowerment.
Commencement of the Scheme
The “Indira Gandhi Free Smartphone Yojana 2023” was officially launched on August 10, 2023.
The distribution of mobile phones will occur in phases, with priority given to widows and divorced women during the initial phase.
Who Can Benefit?
This initiative extends its benefits to various groups:
- Students from 9th to 12th grade and university students.
- Widows, single women, and those who have completed 100 working days under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee.
- Women who have accomplished 50 working days under the Indira Gandhi Urban Employment Guarantee Scheme.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the scheme, women must:
- Be residents of Rajasthan.
- Belong to a non-government job family.
- Have a family income less than 2.5 lakhs.
