Indian gamers have reason to celebrate as BGMI, the popular gaming sensation, is set to make a triumphant comeback after a thorough three-month review.
Reliable sources informed Moneycontrol that Krafton, the game’s developer, has received the green signal from the Indian government to resume BGMI’s operations in the country.
Notably, during this extensive review period, BGMI did not face any government criticism regarding its features.
Government’s Ongoing Oversight
While this is undoubtedly good news for BGMI enthusiasts, it’s crucial to bear in mind that the government has put in place stringent monitoring measures.
The game will undergo government evaluations every three months to ensure strict adherence to all regulations.
These evaluations will scrutinize various aspects of the game’s operations.
It’s worth mentioning that BGMI’s competitor, Garena Free Fire, has also received clearance to return to India after a year and a half ban.
Fans of both games can rejoice as they are now available in India for an extended period.
Trial Approval After 10 Months
BGMI’s journey to regain approval began with a three-month trial period granted by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) in May 2023.
This approval comes nearly ten months after the game was removed from Google Play Store and Apple App Store following government directives.
Union Minister Rajiv Chandrashekhar highlighted the trial approval, citing BGMI’s successful resolution of issues related to server location and data security.
He had earlier emphasized that the government would closely monitor user well-being and addiction, among other factors, during the trial period before making a final decision.
BGMI and Free Fire were among India’s highest-grossing Android apps before their ban last year.
According to reports, since its relaunch in May 2023, BGMI has reclaimed its position as the leading revenue-generating Android app on Google Play Store in India.
Exciting New Features in BGMI
The new version of BGMI differs slightly from its previous iteration, which faced a year-long ban in India.
It now implements limited playtime restrictions for both adults and minors.
Players under 18 can enjoy up to three hours of Battleground Mobile India daily, while other players have a six-hour daily limit.
Additionally, the game introduces parental verification and daily spending limits for minors.
