From April 2024 to March 2025, many people will get help with the cost of LPG gas. This help is Rs 300 per cylinder, and you can get it for up to 12 cylinders.
To get this help, you need to be part of the Ujjwala program. Over 9 crore people are part of this program.
When did the help start?
Last March, the government said they would give Rs 300 per cylinder to poor women in the Ujjwala program.
This help was supposed to end in March 2024, but now it’s until March 31, 2025. The money goes straight to the bank accounts of the people who get it.
When did the help begin?
In May 2022, the government gave Rs 200 per cylinder because fuel prices went up. In October 2023, it became Rs 300.
This help is for 12 cylinders a year and it’s expected to help about 10 crore families. It costs Rs 12,000 crore.
Started in 2016
To help poor families in rural areas get clean cooking gas, the government started the Ujjwala program in May 2016.
They give free gas connections to adult women in poor households. The connections are free, but people have to buy the gas at normal prices.
