In the financial year 2024, many big companies let go of employees on a large scale, while India’s largest aviation company Air India hired thousands of people during this time.
As per PTI news, the company employed more than 5,700 individuals in the financial year 2024, with over 3,800 of them being crew members.
In 2022, Tata Group bought Air India. Since then, they have been working to make the airline the best in the country.
To achieve this, the group has also created a plan that spans five years. This hiring is a part of that plan.
Last year, airlines started flying on 16 new routes. Out of these, 11 are international routes.
The company also added many new planes to its fleet last year, including four A320 neos, 14 A321 neos, eight B777s, and three A350s.
Recruitment of both flying and non-flying staff
In 2024, Air India hired over 5,700 people. This includes more than 3,800 cabin crew members.
Additionally, 1,950 ground or non-flying staff were also employed last year.
CEO of Air India said this
Air India’s CEO and Managing Director, Campbell Wilson, mentioned to employees on Friday that the airline has brought in new cadet pilots.
This is the first group of new pilots. All of them will receive training from a flying school in America. The training will begin at the end of this month.
Air India is adopting this system for appraisal
The CEO, Campbell Wilson, mentioned that Air India is using a new system to track revenue starting this financial year.
The finance and HR teams will now collect and analyze data to decide on salary increases for employees.
This process might take a while, and the company will provide details about the new appraisal cycle soon.
