Govt New Plan to Enroll All Eligible Farmers in PM-Kisan Scheme

The central government is set to kick off a major drive to include all eligible farmers in the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM Kisan Scheme), aimed at improving the financial well-being of farmers.

Some eligible farmers have raised concerns about not receiving the benefits of this program. The government is now taking steps to verify and digitally enroll these farmers.

Farmers’ Grievances Persist

Eligible farmers who haven’t yet joined the scheme continue to voice their grievances. Two main issues are causing concern among farmers.

Firstly, discrepancies exist between the land information provided by farmers and the state’s land records.

Secondly, there are complaints about the lack of e-KYC (Know Your Customer) procedures for farmers.

These challenges highlight the potential to include more farmers in the PM-Kisan scheme.

A New IT System for Enhanced Coverage

To address these concerns, the Ministry has introduced a highly automated IT system, aiming to collect comprehensive information about all eligible land-owning families.

This system minimizes the need for farmers to submit physical documents to access PM Kisan benefits.

Additionally, there are plans to launch a mobile app dedicated to the PM Kisan Yojana, streamlining digital registration and assisting states in creating comprehensive farmer databases.

Streamlined e-KYC Procedures

Media reports suggest that e-KYC will be conducted using Aadhaar-based e-sign and face or OTP-based verification for registration.

Furthermore, there are plans to incorporate fingerprint-based biometric authentication through the app.

These measures aim to fulfill e-KYC requirements and facilitate easy verification, making it more accessible for farmers to benefit from the PM-Kisan scheme.”
