Vishwakarma Yojana: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a program called Vishwakarma Yojana.
This program provides loans to artisans, and the government will also offer up to an eight percent discount.
During the event to start the program, he mentioned that the government has set aside Rs 13,000 crore in the 2023-24 budget for this purpose.
Talking about Vishwakarma Yojana, the Finance Minister said that artisans will get a loan without needing to give any security, and they will pay back the loan with a very low interest rate of only five percent.
He mentioned that this program covers 18 different types of workers, like carpenters, goldsmiths, blacksmiths, builders, stone sculptors, barbers, and sailors.
Through this, the government will provide loans of up to Rs 3 lakh.
He mentioned that at first, they will provide a loan of Rs 1 lakh. After the person pays for 18 months, they can get another loan of Rs 2 lakh.
The program will offer more than just money. It will also provide training for better skills, teach about new digital and eco-friendly technologies, help promote brands, connect with local and global markets, assist with digital payments, and provide social security.
He mentioned that every person benefiting from the program will receive five days of skill training, and they will also receive a daily allowance of Rs 500.
The selection of beneficiaries will happen in three steps.
The Finance Minister mentioned that, in addition to this, they will give an extra Rs 15,000 as a toolkit bonus.
If you use digital transactions, you can earn an extra Re 1 for each transaction, for up to 100 transactions in a month.
This will help a lot of people, including Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes (OBC), women, and those who are not as strong economically.
