Wipro Fires 300 Employees for Moonlighting

New Delhi: Wipro has identified 300 employees of the company working with its rivals simultaneously, and took appropriate action against them.

The chairman of the company Rishad Premji disclosed that on Wednesday, on the sidelines of an gathering that the company discovered that 300 employees

had worked alongside one of its competitors simultaneously and that the company took action in these cases to end their employment.

He reiterated his earlier remarks that moonlighting is the most blatant breach of integrity “in its deepest form”.

“The reality is that there are people today working for Wipro and working directly for one of our competitors and we have actually discovered 300 people in the last few months who are doing exactly that,”

Premji stated during the an AIMA’s (All Indian Management Association) National Management Convention.

When asked about the actions initiated against employees who were discovered to be working in parallel with the company, and for rival companies,

Moonlighting means doing a second job or project in addition to working full-time without being aware that the employer is aware.
