Wipro Consumer Care got three new soap brands—Jo, Doy, and Bacter Shield. They are now part of the company’s collection.
This is the third time Wipro has added brands this year and the 15th time overall under the leadership of Azim Premji.
These three brands used to belong to a company in Mumbai called VVF India. The company didn’t say how much money they spent on this deal.
Did business worth Rs 210 crore
Wipro India’s leader, Neeraj Khatri, shared that this deal will finish in the next 4 months.
These three brands made Rs 210 crore in the business last year, and it might become twice as much in the next three years.
VVF is a company famous for making soaps, shampoos, conditioners, hand sanitizers, and skin moisturizers.
Company’s third acquisition in a year
Wipro has bought 15 companies in the past 10 years, and three of those were in the last year.
In December of last year, they bought Nirapara and Brahmins, which are companies in Kerala that make snacks, spices, and ready-to-cook food.
The company mentioned that they have used 1 billion dollars to buy different companies so far.
Wipro, which makes everyday items, like soap, has 11 percent of the market for toilet soap.
The company said that by adding these three brands to what they already have, their part in the market will get even stronger.
Also, they will become more powerful in both fancy and not-so-fancy categories.
All three products are from different segments
The soap is popular in the North, East, and West parts of India. Doy is considered a high-quality product. Also, Bector Shield is doing well in handwash and antibacterial products.
These three brands will be sold not only in India but also in Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and the Maldives.
Demand is still not strong in villages
Khatri mentioned that in villages, people are still not buying things like they used to before COVID-19.
However, we are hopeful that by the end of this financial year, more people in cities will start buying again.
The company makes things like Santoor, Glucovita, Chandrika, and Unja. Last year, they sold things worth more than Rs 10 thousand crore.
