According to WhatsApp Beta Info, the blocking shortcut has been spotted in version 2.23.2.4 of the WhatsApp beta for Android on the Play Store.
You can see the shortcut to block the contact in the shared screenshot. The company will offer this shortcut in the chat option itself so that users can easily block unwanted contacts without opening the chat.
