WhatsApp introduces ‘Companion Mode’ Feature for all Android Beta users

The companion mode feature has been released to all beta testers on Android in the latest update of WhatsApp, which is owned by Meta.

According to WABetaInfo’s report, the companion mode was previously exclusive to a limited group of beta testers.

The companion mode is an expansion of multi-device support, and it enables users to connect their existing WhatsApp account to another mobile device.

According to the report, users who link their WhatsApp account to a secondary mobile phone can now access their chats on the second device without requiring an active internet connection on their primary phone.

Upon linking their WhatsApp account to a new mobile phone, the users’ chat history will be synchronized across all the devices that they have linked.

The report also noted that even though the companion mode has been rolled out to all beta testers, some functionalities, like managing broadcast lists and posting a status update from the linked device, might still be inaccessible.

On the other hand, WhatsApp has recently launched a new feature on Android called “manage contacts within the app,” which allows users to add and modify contacts without exiting the application.

Currently, the option to add and modify contacts within WhatsApp for Android is accessible to a few beta testers using the latest beta version, and it is expected to become available to more users in the following days.
