WhatsApp brings New Feature to add Descriptions to Forwarded Messages

New Delhi: WhatsApp, owned by Meta, introduces new feature allowing users to add descriptions to forwarded images, videos, GIFs, and documents on Android, currently in beta testing.

As per WABetaInfo, this feature can be useful for providing more accurate descriptions or adding additional context to forwarded content.

When users replace the existing caption with their own description, the new description will be sent as a separate message, making it clear to recipients that it is not part of the original message.

This allows for a clear differentiation between the original caption and the added description.

With this new feature, users now have the ability to add additional context to the forwarded media they share.

This allows them to provide a brief explanation for why they forwarded the media, and also express their thoughts, opinions, or feelings about the content, thereby enhancing the overall communication experience.

Additionally, the report noted that some users may encounter problems with viewing status updates and downloading videos after installing this update.

On the other hand, WhatsApp has made the “companion mode” feature available to all beta testers in its latest Android update.

Previously, the companion mode feature was limited to a specific set of beta testers.

This feature, which is an extension of WhatsApp’s multi-device support, is intended to enable users to link their existing WhatsApp account with an additional mobile phone for added convenience and flexibility.
