Volvo has ceased the sale of its XC40 petrol model in India. The official website now showcases only five models available for the Indian market, featuring four SUVs – XC40 Recharge, C40 Recharge, XC60, and XC90, along with a sedan, S90.
The status of the XC40’s discontinuation remains uncertain, raising questions about whether it’s a temporary or permanent move.
Yet, given Volvo’s commitment to becoming an all-electric brand by 2030, the return of this compact SUV in its petrol variant seems unlikely.
XC40 Petrol Specifications
Previously offered in India in the B4 Ultimate variant, the XC40 featured a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine with a 48V battery, providing 197 bhp power and 300 Nm peak torque.
Equipped with an 8-speed automatic gearbox and an all-wheel drive setup, this variant showcased Volvo’s dedication to performance and technology.
Pricing Details
The XC40, a global competitor to models like Mercedes-Benz GLA, BMW X1, and Audi Q3, underwent a mid-cycle facelift just last year.
The ex-showroom price for the XC40 was Rs 46.40 lakh in India.
Transition to Electric: XC40 Recharge
Responding to the rising demand for luxury electric vehicles, Volvo has introduced the electric variant, XC40 Recharge, in India.
Featuring two electric motors generating 402 bhp power and 660 Nm torque, this electric SUV accelerates from 0 to 100 km per hour in just 4.9 seconds.
The 79 kWh battery pack offers a range of 418 km per charge, and with a fast charger, it claims to charge from 10% to 80% in just 28 minutes, showcasing Volvo’s commitment to the evolving automotive landscape.
