Soon, people from India will be able to travel to Vietnam without needing a visa.
Vietnam will become the third country in Southeast Asia, following Sri Lanka and Thailand, where Indians can enter without a visa.
Vietnam’s Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, Nguyen Van Hung, has requested a temporary waiver of visas for significant markets such as China and India,
aiming to boost Vietnam’s tourism industry, as reported by the local news agency VNExpress.
In the first ten months of this year, Vietnam attracted nearly 10 million international visitors, a significant increase compared to the same period in 2022, which was 4.6 times more.
However, this number is still below the levels seen in 2019 when Vietnam welcomed 18.5 million international visitors.
India holds importance as a market for Vietnam, with around 300,000 Indians visiting Vietnam in 2022.
If Vietnam grants visa-free entry for Indians, it is expected to attract even more tourists from India, contributing to the growth of Vietnam’s tourism industry.
Besides Vietnam, there are other countries where Indians can travel without a visa.
These include Sri Lanka, Thailand, Cook Islands, Fiji, Micronesia, Niue, Vanuatu, Oman, Qatar, Barbados,
British Virgin Islands, Dominica, Grenada, Haiti, Jamaica, Montserrat, Kitts and Nevis, Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago,
Bhutan, Kazakhstan, Macau, Nepal, El Salvador, Mauritius, Senegal, Tunisia.
