Uttar Pradesh Railways Get New Names for Pratapgarh Railway Stations

In a recent development, Uttar Pradesh is set to witness name changes for three railway stations in Pratapgarh district.

These alterations, intended to align with major religious sites in the region, come just ahead of the Navratri festival.

Northern Railway issued a notification on Thursday night, formalizing the name changes.

Here are the revised names for the stations:

1) Pratapgarh Junction will become Maa Belha Devi Dham Pratapgarh Junction.

2) Antu Junction will be known as Maa Chandrika Devi Dham Antu.

3) Shanidev Dham of Bishnathganj will simply be referred to as Bishnathganj.

These name changes draw from the rich history and significance of the religious places in Pratapgarh, attracting pilgrims from distant regions.

By renaming these railway stations, the associated religious sites will gain renewed recognition.

The Central Government’s Ministry of Science and Technology initially issued orders to rename these stations back in April.

However, the challenge of accommodating lengthy names into station codes delayed the process.

Subsequently, approval from the Home Ministry has been obtained, and new station codes have been allocated as follows:

Maa Belha Devi Dham Pratapgarh Junction: MBDP

Maa Chandrika Devi Dham Antu: MCDA

Shanidev Dham Bishnathganj: SBTJ

With the assignment of these codes, the way is now clear for the implementation of the new station names.
