UP Govt to waive off over 17 Lakh Pending Traffic Challans in Noida: See Details

The government of Uttar Pradesh, under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s leadership, has chosen to clear more than 17 lakh unpaid traffic fines in Noida.

As per the decision, the fines given for traffic violations between April 1, 2018, and December 31, 2021, will be canceled by the traffic department.

About 17,89,463 such fines were issued for traffic rule violations during this time.

Many people will gain benefits

As per the state government’s guidance, they will cancel fines for vehicles, and the fine amount will be set to zero.

Until now, this rule applied to fines issued by the Assistant Divisional Transport Department, but now it will also apply to those given by traffic police.

This decision will help many people, like those who travel, delivery workers, and taxi drivers.

If you got a fine during this time, it’s best not to pay it because it will be removed from the e-challan system soon. But if you already paid the fine, there’s nothing more to do now.

If you’ve already paid the fine, what should you do?

If you’ve already paid the fine for a traffic challan given during this time, there’s nothing more to do now.

Over 7 lakh motorists have already settled their e-challans, and it will stay that way.

If you haven’t paid the challan yet, there’s no need to do it now.

But if you’ve already made the payment, you won’t get the financial benefit that the government would have given by canceling the pending challan.

Fines have not been canceled for the first time

This isn’t the first time that unpaid fines have been taken off the system.

Earlier, the government canceled about 30,000 fines issued between December 2016 and December 2021.

After the recent mass cancellation of fines, e-challans will be removed from the data system.

This will be a big relief for the traffic police who manage these fines and for those who received them.
