Among these, the Uttar Pradesh (UP) government proudly presents the ‘Bhagya Laxmi Yojana,’ a vital initiative designed to counter female feticide, improve the sex ratio, and promote education for girls.
Financial Aid and Educational Support
The heart of the ‘Bhagya Laxmi Yojana’ lies in its financial assistance.
Upon the birth of a girl child, parents receive a bond worth Rs 50,000, which matures to Rs 2 lakh over 21 years.
Additionally, mothers are granted Rs 5,100 at the time of birth for the daughter’s care.
As the daughter progresses through school, Rs 3,000 is provided at class 6, and Rs 5,000 at class 8.
The assistance continues with Rs 7,000 for class 10 and an Rs 8,000 deposit in the daughter’s account in class 12. In total, the government contributes Rs 23,000 toward the daughter’s education.
Eligibility and Registration
To qualify for this scheme, families must have an annual income not exceeding Rs 2 lakh,
and the benefit applies to daughters born after 2006. Parents must register their child within one month of birth at the local Anganwadi center.
Importantly, only daughters enrolled in government schools are eligible.
Documentation Required
To apply, parents need an income certificate, caste certificate, residence certificate, passport-sized photos, the girl child’s birth certificate, bank account passbook, Aadhaar card, and parents’ mobile numbers.
