The cab booking app Uber has introduced a new feature called Concurrent Rides in India.
This feature allows users to book up to three rides simultaneously.
Users can pay the driver directly in cash or through the app.
The feature will be rolled out to users gradually, but there is no information yet about which cities will have this service.
How will the Concurrent Rides feature work
With this feature, when a user books a ride for a friend or family member, they will receive ride details on WhatsApp as well as by text message.
The details will include the driver’s name and a four-digit PIN.
The ride will begin once the four-digit PIN is shared with the driver. The Concurrent Ride feature has already been introduced in several countries besides India.
Additionally, the company introduced the round trip feature for users in December last year.
This feature is designed for long-distance travel, allowing users to book the same car and driver for a five-day round trip.
It benefits business travelers and vacationers the most. The service includes waiting time and driver’s stay charges.
OLA’s tension will increase
Ola may face increased competition due to Uber’s new feature.
Uber allows users to book up to three rides at once, while Ola only lets users book two rides simultaneously.
Additionally, Ola does not offer the option to make two bookings with a single payment.
To make two bookings, Ola users must choose different online payment methods or pay in cash.
