On Monday, Triumph Motorcycles announced that it had transferred its sales and marketing operations in India to Bajaj Auto Ltd.
As a result, motorcycle enthusiasts in India will soon have access to new mid-sized bikes from the British motorcycle manufacturer.
Once the transfer was completed, the two companies announced their plans to release a new mid-sized range of bikes later this year, which they developed jointly.
Although the British company already has several bikes available in the Indian market, the introduction of this new line of bikes is expected to enhance its value in the Indian market.
As part of the strategic partnership between the two companies that was announced in 2020, this development represents their plan to create a new line of mid-sized Triumph Motorcycles.
According to a statement from Bajaj Auto Executive Director Rakesh Sharma, this partnership presents an opportunity for Triumph to expand their business and portfolio, as the new range of motorcycles is introduced.
Furthermore, he stated, “We will utilize our strong distribution network to swiftly increase the number of exclusive Triumph stores in India, in anticipation of the highly anticipated new motorcycles that will soon be launched.”
The statement confirmed that Bajaj Auto would manage the existing 15 Triumph Motorcycle dealerships as part of the partnership, but emphasized that these dealerships would continue to be exclusive to the brand and operate in accordance with Triumph’s global standards.
Triumph Motorcycles’ Chief Commercial Officer, Paul Stroud, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership with Bajaj Auto Ltd, stating that it was a significant development for Triumph and that it was progressing well.
He went on to say, “We are thrilled about the potential for growth that our partnership with Bajaj Auto Ltd brings to us in India.”
According to the two companies, they have collaborated on the development of new mid-sized Triumph motorcycles that will be manufactured at Bajaj Auto’s Chakan plant in Maharashtra.
The statement explained that this new range of mid-sized Triumph motorcycles would establish a new entry point for consumers to experience the Triumph brand on a global scale.
The statement also revealed that Bajaj Auto intends to open Triumph dealerships in more than 120 cities over the next two years, in line with Triumph’s worldwide standards.
Bajaj Auto already manages four separate and exclusive dealership networks for their range of products, which includes KTM, Bajaj Motorcycles, Chetak Electric, and Bajaj three-wheelers.
