Nine months after the Triumph Speed 400 came out, its price has gone up for the first time. The same goes for its off-road version, the Scrambler 400X.
Now, the Speed 400 costs Rs 2,34,497, and the Scrambler 400X is priced at Rs 2,64,496.
Started with a low price
When the Triumph Speed 400 first came out last year, it was priced aggressively at Rs 2.33 lakh.
This surprised many in the industry and set a new standard for pricing. Plus, the starting price was even better at Rs 2.23 lakh for the first 10,000 bookings.
The Triumph Scrambler 400X came out a few months later than the Speed 400, priced at Rs 2,62,996.
While it wasn’t as aggressively priced as its Roadster counterpart, it still offered good value, being cheaper than competitors like KTM and Royal Enfield.
Why did the prices go up?
Even with the price increase of just Rs 1,500, both bikes are still competitively priced.
This rise is likely due to inflation and increasing production costs, affecting many companies. But Bajaj or Triumph haven’t explained the reason for the increase yet.
Who are the competitors?
The Triumph Speed 400 competes with the Royal Enfield Classic 350, a cruiser bike available in 6 variants and 15 colors.
The Classic 350 has a 349cc BS6 engine, producing 20.2 bhp power and 27 Nm torque.
It comes with front and rear disc brakes and an anti-lock braking system. The Classic 350 weighs 195 kg and has a 13-liter fuel tank.
