With the first quarter of the year behind us, many automakers are gearing up to launch their latest models across various segments.
In the fiercely competitive midsize SUV segment, currently dominated by Hyundai Creta, Honda Cars India and Citroen are set to unveil two all-new products in April 2023.
Additionally, Kia India will provide a mid-life update to the Seltos SUV in the upcoming months.
Below is a brief overview of the upcoming SUVs that are poised to hit the roads in the coming months.
Citroen C3 Aircross
Citroen’s latest offering for the Indian market, the Citroen C3 Aircross, will be unveiled on April 27th, 2023, under the brand’s C-Cubed program.
The model will compete directly with popular midsize SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Maruti Grand Vitara.
It is expected to be around 4.2 meters long and will be available in both 5- and 7-seater configurations.
The Citroen C3 Aircross will utilize the CMP modular platform, which is also used in the C3 hatchback, and may be equipped with the 1.2L, 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine capable of generating 110bhp peak power and 190Nm of torque.
Compared to the C3 hatch, the new midsize SUV will feature a more upright stance, SUV-like design elements, and a newly designed rear quarter.
Honda Midsize SUV
According to reports, Honda is planning to unveil its new midsize SUV in June 2023.
The upcoming model will be specifically designed for the Indian market and will be based on the platform of the City sedan, borrowing some design elements from Honda’s global SUVs.
Powering the SUV could be a 121bhp, 1.5L iVTEC petrol engine with a 6-speed manual or a CVT gearbox.
There are also rumors that Honda may introduce a hybrid version of the SUV with a 126bhp, Atkinson Cycle 1.5L petrol hybrid powertrain similar to the one used in the City sedan.
However, details on the SUV’s interior are still unknown, but it’s expected to come equipped with ADAS technology and other features.
Updated Kia Seltos
By mid 2023, the Kia Seltos facelift will be launched by the South Korean automaker, featuring significant updates to its design, interior, and powertrain.
The SUV will be equipped with a new 1.5L turbo petrol engine that will replace the current 120bhp, 1.4L turbo petrol motor, delivering a more robust output of 160bhp with 253Nm.
The vehicle is expected to be offered with both manual and automatic gearboxes.
In addition to the new powertrain, the existing 115bhp, 1.5L petrol and 115bhp, 1.5L turbo diesel engines will still be available.
The 2023 Kia Seltos will also come with ADAS suite, along with a new digital instrument cluster.
