The highly anticipated launch of the Hyundai Exter, a small/mini SUV and direct rival to the Tata Punch, is set to take place.
As the smallest and most affordable SUV from Hyundai in India, the Exter aims to challenge the dominance of the Tata Punch in the micro SUV segment.
Bookings for the Hyundai Exter have already commenced, with interested customers able to reserve their vehicle by paying a token amount of Rs 11,000.
The SUV will be available in five trim levels and 15 variants, namely EX, S, SX, SX (O), and SX (O) Connect.
Pricing is estimated to start from around Rs 6 lakh for the base variant, with the fully-loaded variant expected to reach up to Rs 10 lakh.
Hyundai has confirmed that the Exter will be powered by a 1.2-liter petrol engine, with the option of a CNG kit available.
Both 5-speed manual and AMT gearbox options will be offered, although the CNG variants will only have a manual transmission.
The petrol engine is expected to produce 83bhp and 114Nm of torque.
In terms of dimensions, the Hyundai Exter will be slightly longer, taller, and more spacious compared to the Tata Punch.
It will have a length ranging from 3800mm to 3900mm, a height of 1631mm, and a wheelbase of 2450mm.
In contrast, the Punch measures 3700mm in length, 1690mm in width, 1595mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2435mm.
Setting itself apart in its segment, the new Hyundai Exter will be the first car to offer a dashcam with dual cameras and an electric sunroof.
Additionally, it will come equipped with 6 airbags as a standard safety feature.
Other notable features include electronic stability control, traction control, ISOFIX child seat anchors, hill hold assist, 3-point seat belts, seatbelt reminders for all seats, and a tire pressure monitoring system.
With the launch of the Hyundai Exter, the competition in the micro SUV segment is set to intensify, offering customers more options and features to choose from.
