Tata Motors introduced a new electric SUV called Tata Punch on January 17th, starting at a price of Rs 10.99 lakh. The highest model is priced at Rs 14.49 lakh.
The basic Punch EV has a 25 kWh battery, providing a certified range of 315 km. The extended range version features a 35 kWh battery with a claimed range of 421 km.
The electric vehicle can be charged from 10% to 80% in 56 minutes using any 50 kW DC fast charger. Its waterproof battery comes with an 8-year or 1,60,000 km warranty.
This marks Tata’s first product built on the acti.ev architecture, officially revealed on January 5th. It is currently the most affordable electric SUV in India.
Bookings for Tata Punch EV have begun, requiring a token payment of Rs 21,000, with deliveries starting from January 22. Positioned between the Nexon EV and Tiago EV, it competes with the Citroen eC3.
Key features include an acceleration from 0-100 kmph in 9.5 seconds, reaching a maximum speed of 140 kmph. The EV offers two e-drive options: a 120 bhp, 190 Nm torque version, and an 80 bhp, 114 Nm torque version.
Tata Punch EV comes in two variants – Standard and Long Range. The standard variant includes a 25 kWh battery and a 3.3 kW AC charger, while the long-range variant has a 35 kWh battery and a 7.2 kW AC charger, along with 50 kW DC fast charging.
The exterior design features a full-width LED light bar, a split headlamp setup, and a charging socket in the front. The rear has a Y-shaped brake light setup, a roof spoiler,
and a dual-tone bumper design. The EV comes with 16-inch alloy wheels with disc brakes on all four wheels and a front trunk for storage.
The interior showcases a 10.25-inch infotainment screen, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and a two-spoke steering wheel. Lower variants have a 7.0-inch infotainment screen.
Punch EV offers features like a 360-degree camera, leatherette seats, electronic parking brake with auto hold, connected car tech, wireless charger, ventilated front seats, cruise control, and the Arcade.ev app suite. A sunroof is available as an option.
For safety, all variants include 6 airbags, ABS, ESC, blind-view monitor, three-point seat belts, ISOFIX mount, and an SOS function. Tata Punch EV is Tata’s fourth all-electric car and the second electric SUV after Nexon, developed on the Generation 2 EV architecture.
