Tata Punch EV Earns 5-Star Bharat NCAP Rating for Safety

The Tata Punch EV has achieved a significant milestone by securing a 5-star rating for both adult occupant protection (AOP) and child occupant protection (COP) in the Bharat NCAP crash tests conducted in April 2024.

This impressive rating applies to all variants of the Punch EV, highlighting its exceptional safety standards.

Adult Occupant Protection

In the Bharat NCAP (BNCAP) tests, the Punch EV excelled in adult occupant protection, scoring an impressive 31.46 out of 32 points. The vehicle performed exceptionally well in the following tests:

Frontal Offset Deformable Barrier Test: Scored 14.26 out of 16 points.

Side Movable Deformable Barrier Test: Scored 15.6 out of 16 points.

These results demonstrate that the Punch EV provides good to adequate protection for adult occupants in crash scenarios.

Child Occupant Protection

The Punch EV also showed strong performance in child occupant protection, securing 45 out of a possible 49 points. The breakdown of the scores includes:

Dynamic Tests: 23.95 out of 24 points.

Child Seat Restraint (CRS) Segment: A perfect score of 12 out of 12 points.

Vehicle Assessment: 9 out of 13 points.

Standard safety features across all variants include six airbags, ABS and ESC, three-point seat belts for all seats, and ISOFIX mounts for child seats.

Highest Rated Car by BNCAP

The Tata Punch EV is currently the highest-rated car by BNCAP, surpassing other Tata models such as the Nexon EV, Harrier, and Safari, which also hold 5-star ratings but with slightly lower scores.

Powertrain and Battery Options

The Tata Punch EV offers two battery options:

25kWh Battery: Provides a range of 315km (MIDC).

35kWh Battery: Offers a range of 421km (MIDC).

Charging options include:

3.3kW Wall Box Charger: Standard charging solution.

7.2kW Fast Charger: For quicker charging times.

The Long Range variants come equipped with a 122hp, 190Nm motor, while the regular variants feature an 82hp, 114Nm motor.

Prices for the Punch EV range from Rs 10.99 lakh to Rs 15.49 lakh, making it a competitive option in the EV market.
