In the current automotive landscape, SUVs are capturing the attention of consumers, resulting in a decline in sales for sedan cars.
Among the best-selling compact sedans in the market, Maruti Suzuki Dzire, a favored choice among cab aggregators, takes the lead.
Despite its popularity, the sales of Maruti Suzuki Dzire have experienced a 5 percent decline compared to the previous year.
Moreover, three out of the top five best-selling sedans have also witnessed a decrease in sales.
In April 2023, Maruti Suzuki Dzire sold 10,132 units, whereas in April 2022, the figure stood at 10,701 units, indicating a 5 percent annual decline in sales.
Hyundai Aura, another notable contender in the compact sedan segment, sold 5,085 units in April 2023, compared to 4,035 units in April 2022. This translates to a 26 percent increase in sales year-on-year.
The Honda Amaze recorded sales of 3,393 units in April 2023, witnessing a decline of 24 percent when compared to April 2022, during which it sold 4,467 units.
Tata Tigor, with sales of 3,154 units in April 2023, experienced a 17 percent decline in sales from the previous year, when it sold 3,803 units.
On the other hand, Maruti Ciaz demonstrated notable growth, selling 1,017 units in April 2023, marking a substantial 76 percent increase in sales compared to April 2022, when it sold 579 units.
Maruti Suzuki Dzire is known for its exceptional fuel efficiency, particularly in the CNG variant, delivering a mileage of 31 km/kg. The Dzire offers a 1.2-liter petrol engine, with an additional CNG option.
The petrol engine generates 89bhp power, while the CNG mode produces 76bhp/98Nm. The car is equipped with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
As the sedan segment faces a challenging sales environment, Maruti Suzuki Dzire remains a popular choice for its efficiency and performance, while other sedans strive to adapt to evolving consumer preferences.
