State Bank of India (SBI) has recently implemented changes to its bank locker charges, prompting customers to visit their respective branches and sign the Revised Bank Locker Agreement in order to avail the locker services.
SBI took to Twitter to announce the notice regarding the revised agreement.
It also advised locker customers to visit the bank for further information and to complete the necessary formalities.
It is crucial for SBI locker customers to familiarize themselves with the notice before proceeding.
The revised bank locker charges come in response to a directive issued by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
The RBI mandated that banks inform their customers about the revised requirements by April 30.
Furthermore, banks are required to ensure that 50% and 75% of their existing customers sign the Revised Bank Locker Agreement by June 30 and September 30, respectively.
The charges for bank lockers at SBI branches vary depending on the branch location and size of the locker.
For small and medium-sized lockers, customers are required to pay a one-time locker registration charge of Rs 500 plus GST.
Meanwhile, large and extra-large lockers entail a registration charge of Rs 1,000 plus GST.
Here are the rental charges based on size and location:
1) Small Locker Rental Charges:
- Urban & Metro: ₹2000+GST
- Rural and Semi-Urban: ₹1500+GST
2) Medium Locker Rental Charges:
- Urban & Metro: ₹4000+GST
- Rural and Semi-Urban: ₹3000+GST
3) Large Locker Rental Charges:
- Urban & Metro: ₹8000+GST
- Rural and Semi-Urban: ₹6000+GST
4) Rental Charges for XL Locker:
- Urban & Metro: ₹12000+GST
- Rural and Semi-Urban: ₹9000+GST
It is advisable for SBI customers to visit their nearest branch to obtain complete and accurate information regarding the revised bank locker charges,
as well as to comply with the new agreement to ensure uninterrupted access to their lockers.
