SpiceJet, a low-cost airline company, has announced the temporary suspension of specific flights connecting Puducherry to Hyderabad and Bengaluru.
The airline stated that these flights will be on hold until July 2 to accommodate the special travel needs of Haj pilgrims.
Regular operations will resume from July 3.
SpiceJet introduces special flights for Haj
SpiceJet revealed its plan to initiate special flights to Jeddah by diverting some of its aircraft from busy routes.
To implement this, SpiceJet has deployed Q400 Bombardier aircraft, which currently operate on the Hyderabad-Puducherry-Bangalore route.
According to reliable sources, flight occupancy on the Hyderabad-Puducherry route reaches 80% from Monday to Friday and 90-95% on weekends (Saturday and Sunday).
Similarly, the flight occupancy on the Puducherry-Bengaluru route ranges from 40% to 50% on weekdays and weekends.
As a result, SpiceJet has made the temporary decision to suspend services on this route.
Possible flight suspension in August
It is worth mentioning that the airline has currently suspended flights until July 2 and plans to resume normal operations on July 3.
However, it is anticipated that flights on these routes will be temporarily halted again in August as SpiceJet’s aircraft will be used to transport Haj pilgrims from Jeddah.
Airline guidance for passengers
SpiceJet advises passengers to remain updated through the airline’s official communication channels for any further announcements.
The airline assures passengers of its commitment to ensuring a seamless travel experience during these exceptional circumstances.
According to industry experts, SpiceJet’s temporary suspension of flights from Puducherry to Hyderabad and Bengaluru is perceived as a strategic decision.
