Passengers traveling through Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI Airport) can now take advantage of a new facility called self baggage drop.
This service aims to enhance passenger convenience by eliminating the need to stand in line for luggage deposit.
With the implementation of self baggage drop,
waiting times for passengers will be significantly reduced, streamlining the check-in process at the airport.
Terminal and Machines: The self baggage drop facility has been introduced at Terminal 3 of Indira Gandhi International Airport.
Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), the managing body of the airport, has installed 14 self baggage drop (SBD) machines, including 12 automatic ones, to facilitate this service.
Currently, the facility is available exclusively for domestic passengers. However, after obtaining the necessary approvals, it will be extended to international passengers as well.
Statement from Delhi International Airport Limited: In a release issued by Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL),
the organization highlighted that initially, the facility would be accessible to passengers of Indigo, the country’s largest airline company.
Subsequently, passengers of Vistara, Air India, Air France, and British Airways will also be able to enjoy the benefits of this service.
Using the Self Baggage Drop Service: Passengers at Indira Gandhi International Airport can avail themselves of the self baggage drop facility in two stages.
Firstly, passengers need to obtain their check-in kiosk boarding pass and baggage tag. Afterward, they manually tag their checked baggage and proceed to scan their boarding pass near the self baggage drop machine.
Passengers will also be required to declare that they are not carrying any prohibited or dangerous items.
Finally, passengers can place their luggage on the conveyor belt provided. The machine will automatically weigh and scan the baggage, ensuring its smooth transfer to the respective flight.
The introduction of the self baggage drop service at IGI Airport brings added convenience for passengers by reducing waiting times and expediting the check-in process.
As more airlines are included in this facility, a larger number of travelers will benefit from this efficient and time-saving service.
Passengers can now enjoy a hassle-free and seamless experience at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, thanks to the implementation of self baggage drop.
