Road Ministry Extends License Validity Amid Technical Glitches

The government made a new rule to help people with licenses that were expiring soon.

The rule says that if your learner’s permit, driver’s license, or conductor’s license was going to expire soon, don’t worry.

They extended the expiration date to February 29, 2024.

This means if your license was going to expire on January 31, 2024, or February 15, 2024, it’s now valid until February 29, 2024.

Some people were having trouble renewing their licenses because of technical problems. Also, it was hard for some to change their learner’s permit into a driver’s license.

So, the government decided to extend the expiration dates because of these issues with their online system called ‘Sarthi’ portal.

During January 31, 2024, and February 12, 2024, the Sarthi portal had problems. Because of this, people couldn’t easily do license-related things online.

The government says if your license expired between January 31, 2024, and February 15, 2024, don’t worry.

Your license is now valid until February 29, 2024, and you won’t get fined.
