Bengaluru-based electric vehicle (EV) start-up River has raised the price of its first electric scooter, the River Indy.
The Indy e-scooter now costs ₹1.38 lakh (excluding additional costs) in Bengaluru, which is ₹13,000 more than its initial price of ₹1.25 lakh when it was launched last year.
The initial price was available for the first 1,000 customers, and it was set before the FAME subsidy amendment.
Despite the increase, it is a small change compared to other electric scooters.
River has opened the second round of bookings for the Indi electric scooter. Interested buyers can reserve the scooter on the company’s website by paying a token amount of ₹2,500.
The delivery date for the second batch is not yet announced, but the company has already started delivering the first batch to customers in Bengaluru.
Here are some key features and specifications of the River Indy
Design
The Indy scooters have a distinctive design with a large body, twin-beam LED headlamps, and built-in mounts for panniers.
The scooter also features a comfortable seat, a spacious floorboard, grabrails, crash guards, and alloy wheels with thick tires, making it stand out on the road compared to regular scooters, whether they are powered by an internal combustion engine (ICE) or electricity.
Performance
The River Indy is equipped with a 6.7 kW electric motor, providing 8.9bhp power and a peak torque of 26nm.
It has a top speed of 90 km per hour, and its 4 kWh battery pack offers a range of 120 km on a single charge.
River claims that the scooter can be charged up to 80 percent in five hours using a standard charger.
Availability
Initially focusing on its home market in Bengaluru, River has recently opened its first dealership in the city.
The company plans to expand its presence across the country by opening more outlets in the coming year.
